Tough to make high school teams. A couple of my kids play ball. They are both lefties. One played baseball, the other plays club fastpitch softball and high school ball. Yes, Akadema is one of the best glove makers out there. They are I think the only one that has opened a new baseball and softball glove manufacturing facility in the USA in the last 20 years. They make some really good stuff. There are other good brands also such as Nokona, Glovesmith and the usuals. Anyway check out the Akadema ADJ 154, ACW 57 , or ABB 53 models. These gloves should last through his college playing days and beyond if he breaks it in right and takes care of it. Use the manufacturers glove conditioner, not oil and go out and play a lot of catch. Wipe it down after games to keep the dirt off and re-condition only if it really needs it. These gloves are made of EXTREMELY high quality select steer hide. The quality of the leather makes it difficult to break in, but nothing that shaving cream can't handle. I play varsity baseball for my high school, and these gloves are the best investments i have made. I guarantee they will last your son much longer than a couple of years. I highly recommend this brand, even if you don't buy the professional grade. I own two Akadema certified gloves, a pitcher’s ATY-132 and an outfielder’s AXX21. These gloves are made of EXTREMELY high feature select steer hide. The feature of the leather makes it tiresome to break in, but nothing that chip cream can’t soubriquet.
